Boothbay Harbor sewer district receives grant
Trustees of the Boothbay Harbor Sewer District were informed of a recent grant by Superintendent Chris Higgins at their meeting on Wednesday.
The Safety Enhancement Grant, issued by the Maine Municipal Association, was in the amount of $1,835.33. The funds were available through the association’s Workers’ Compensation Fund.
The sewer district applied for the grant to fund the purchase of a manhole cover lifter and two magnets. The grant is awarded to cover two thirds of the cost, up to a maximum of $1,835. The purpose of the grant fund is to purchase safety equipment that will reduce the number of serious injuries to workers.
Other news
Preparatory work for the Commercial Street Relining Project was completed by Green Mountain Pipeline Services in only 1-1/2 days. The company expects to be able to begin the relining work during the week of Dec. 2. Bay Street will be the first area for relining work.
The sewer district has also completed its jetting project and followed up with video inspection of the sewer lines. Several areas have been found via video that will need attention in the near future and Higgins is working on plans to address the work that is needed.
It is expected that more details about the work will become available at the next commission meeting on Dec. 3.
