Boothbay Harbor Rotary Club
It's the New Year, 2025. How did that happen? Like the saying goes “Time just slips away.” 2024 sure was a busy year for the Boothbay Harbor Rotary Club. The Rotary Bike lending program gave out almost 100 bicycles to our summer workers. We made 160 Christmas goody bags for the Food Pantry and Food for Thought kids. (And had a lot of fun and laughter making them that night). Our soup project continues, with over 4,000 pints of soup now donated to the food pantry. We’ve made about two dozen welcome home tote bags for a veteran moving into a Boothbay VETS Project trailer. We've also donated about two dozen propane tanks for the Boothbay VETS Trailers, purchased at Ames Supply at their cost. We purchased the ramp for the food pantry and stocked it with fresh food on a regular basis. We helped our wonderful High School Rotary Interact Club welcome about 80 veterans and their guests to our annual Veterans Appreciation Dinner in November. Then, of course, the Big Gray Rotary Club Barn, April till too freezing December, selling items donated by this amazing community allowing us to support scholarships, camperships, income based housing and so much more. Busy, we sure were busy. Good thing we enjoy one another, make each other laugh and share the Rotary Club motto of “Service Above Self.” But, really it's the laughter! Here's to more laughter in 2025.
We're back together this Thursday at 6 p.m. for dinner, fellowship, laughter and to hear about our Rotary District 7780’s “Crutches for Africa” project. So far, I think we have sent more than a half dozen 40-foot containers of mobility devices to our Rotary Club Partners in Africa. We’ll find out what the number actually is on Thursday, because Dennis Robillard, from the Saco Bay Club will be our guest speaker. He is one of the organizers of the District 7780 (our District) Crutches for Africa project.
It's a new year and dues are due again. You should have received a statement via email, but if not, just send a check for $142 to BBHRC, P.O. Box 518, Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538 or leave it at the desk at the clubhouse.
Looking for something to do that makes a difference? Join us any Thursday at 6 for a dinner meeting at our Clubhouse, 66 Montgomery Road, Boothbay Harbor.
