Boothbay Harbor Rotary Club
Last Thursday Rebecca Jacobs from the Boothbay Region Water District talked about the work and goals of the Water District. It's quite the accomplishment keeping the many miles of pipeline open and delivering clean, drinkable water. She shared some of the challenges the Water District is facing and also the exciting news about the Adams Pond Road relocation project. The Boothbay Region Water District applied for and was awarded a grant directed at ensuring good water quality for the region by moving Adams Pond Road away from Adams Pond and providing a larger buffer area of natural vegetation between the pond and the road. This should lessen the chance of pollutants reaching Adams Pond and the increased naturalized area can act as a filter. Thank you Boothbay Region Water District for working to keep our water supply usable.
This Thursday is our annual, fun, chaotic meeting when we put together 160 Christmas Goody Bags for kids using The Food Pantry and Food for Thought, along with welcome home tote bags for the Boothbay VETS project. And, we also write Christmas cards for the residents of the Veterans Nursing Home in Augusta. We'll have Christmas music playing while we work away. If you don't have the Christmas spirit in your soul, you will after Thursday night.
Then, the following Thursday there is no meeting because of Thanksgiving. Happy Thanksgiving to all.
The Rotary Club Barn is open every Saturday from 8:30 to 11 a.m. until Dec. 14, weather permitting of course. Dress warm, there's no heat in the Barn. But, lots of amazing things and great bargains. The pickup crew is taking a much welcome rest after the weekend of November 23-24. But, we are happy to accept your dropped off donations on Saturday from 8:30 to 11 until our last day, Dec. 14. After that, please hold on to your donations for us till April 2025.
We meet every Thursday at 6 p.m. at our clubhouse from a dinner meeting. Please join us, you’ll be glad you did.
