Boothbay Harbor resident profiled as one of ‘50 People Shaping Maine’
Once a year Maine Magazine publishes a short list of Mainers who are making a difference across the state. In the July 2014 issue, the list of “50 Mainers Shaping our State” included West Boothbay Harbor resident, Dr. Wendy Wolf, founding president and CEO of Maine’s largest, private healthcare foundation.
The article cited Wolf’s leadership in guiding the award of more than $50 million to over 300 nonprofits and public organizations across to ensure that every person in Maine has access to high quality healthcare for better health. Most recently, the Maine Health Access Foundation led a statewide public education, outreach and marketing campaign to help more than 44,000 Mainers enroll in the new health plans offered through the Affordable Care Act Health Insurance Marketplace.
Because of these efforts, Maine was one of the most successful states in the nation for enrollment in this new federal health insurance program. Under her leadership, the foundation also spearheaded the development of the most comprehensive statewide electronic health information exchanges (called HealthInfoNet) in the country. Maine is the only state where all hospitals can confidentially share patient information for better quality care.
In addition to her work at the foundation, Wolf serves as Boothbay Harbor’s newest selectman.
