Boothbay Harbor nominations open

Tue, 01/26/2021 - 8:45am

Boothbay Harbor town officer nomination papers will be available starting Jan. 27. Included are a one-year term, special election for selectman and three-year terms for selectman, Boothbay-Boothbay Harbor Community School District School Committee, CSD Board of Trustees, Boothbay Region Water District, BB-BBH Cemetery District and Boothbay Harbor Sewer District.

The special election rose out of Selectman Ken Fitch’s resignation in October, a year and a half before the end of his first term. The seat will be up for grabs again as a three-year term in 2022. Selectman Wendy Wolf has stated she will not be running for reelection this year. Wolf has served on the board since 2014. The BB-BBH CSD School Committee and Board of Trustees seats are held by chairs Stephanie Hawke and Steve Lorrain, respectively; East Boothbay’s Nell Tharpe holds the at-large Boothbay Region Water Distrist Trustee seat; Isabelle Lewis holds the BB-BBH Cemetery District Trustee seat and James Stormont, the BHSD seat.

Town Clerk Michelle Farnham said nomination papers will be available by appointment only. Call 633-3671. Candidates must provide between 25 and 100 signatures to be on the ballot. Papers are due by 4:30 p.m. March 8. Elections are May 7. The annual town meeting is May 8.
