Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library
The Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library will be hosting a Map Making Workshop open to teens and adults, Wednesday, March 16, 6-8 p.m., in the upstairs Community Room, with Molly Brown, Ph.D., of MollyMaps.
Brown is a visual artist and geographer. She studied geography at Middlebury College, University of British Columbia, and holds a Ph.D. in human geography from the University of Colorado. She has worked in environmental art education for organizations, universities and schools across the country. Her current projects involve map-making with children, environmental psychology, and the geographies of conservation and restoration.
Her work has been featured in The Alpinist, The Middlebury Magazine, The Starbucks Digital Network and The New York Times. Her clients have included, The Nature Conservancy, The American Mountain Guide Association, The World Wildlife Fund, The Trust for Public Land, The Great Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, the Penobscot River Restoration Trust, Climber and Writer, Majka Burhardt, and the Schoodic Peninsula Visitor’s Center.
Brown will show us how to make beautiful watercolor creations step-by-step in this free library workshop. Finished maps may be brought home or donated to the library to make a map mosaic on our wall. If you have any maps at home, please bring them to share. All materials are included. Seating is limited. Registration required, call 633-3112.
