Boothbay football season ends with playoff loss to Mountain Valley

Seahawks fall 58-22 in 8-man playoff loss

Mountain Valley won three football games this season, but that was enough to advance to the small conference eight-man football semifinal round. Mountain Valley beat Boothbay once in the regular season, and again, on Oct. 22 with a 58-22 victory over Boothbay in Rumford. The Seahawks scored three touchdowns, all on passes. Kayden Ames threw the majority of passes, connecting on 10 of 26 attempts for 180 yards. 

Ames tossed two touchdown passes to Ashton McLellan. McLellan also played a role in the third touchdown pass. He threw a five-yard touchdown to Connor Wenners. In total, Boothbay rushed for 149 yards and passed for 185 yards. Ames accounted for the bulk of the yardage with 119 rushing and 180 passing. McLellan was the Seahawks’ leading receiver with six catches for 117 yards. 

On defense, 10 Seahawks registered tackles, Dylan Plummer, 9; McLellan, 6.5; Jordan Carrier, 6; Wenners, 5.5; Caden Royal, 3.5; Aidric Canada, 3; Damian Torre, 3; Ames, 2; and Sam Page, 1.5.

Boothbay ended the season with three wins and five losses. No. 3 Mountain Valley (3-3) plays No. 2 Dirigo (5-2) this weekend.
