Boothbay Boys’ tennis tops Class C South standings

At 3-0, the Boothbay Boys’ tennis team is atop the Class C South Heal point standings. On May 1, Boothbay defeated Madison, 3-2. In singles, Boothbay’s Cleyton Splaine withdrew leading 6-5 versus Isaac Ouellette. Griffin Yereance beat Madison No. 2 Kayden Hibbard, 10-4, and Madison took a 2-1 match lead with Ethan Linkletter’s win over Sawyer Blake, 10-6. Boothbay won both doubles matches to secure the victory. The No. 1 team Rodi Mayne and Neal Baldwin beat Ayden Clouter and Spencer Richard,10-8, and No. 2 team Andrew Fowlie and Chase Mansfield defeated Ethan Harper and Tameron MacInness, 10-2. 

Boothbay’s next match is Wednesday, May 10 versus Hall-Dale. 

Three singles players competed in the regional state qualifying tournament. Splaine defeated Luke Vasdauskas of Brunswick, 8-6 in the first round. His teammates did not fare as well. Noah Nelson of Messalonskee beat Sawyer Blake, 8-0. Wilson Fedarko of Camden Hills beat Yereance, 8-6. 

In round two, No. 3 seed Logan Tardif of Waterville eliminated Splaine, 6-1,6-0.
