Boothbay beats Lincoln Academy

The Boothbay Region Seahawks got two goals from co-captain Cortney Meader and a goal from co-captain Kylie Brown and went on to defeat the visiting Lincoln Academy Eagles, 5-2,  at Perkins Field Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 27. Meader also had two second assists and Brown had a first and a second assist. The Seahawks and Eagles had an overtime 1-1 tie in Newcastle earlier in the season.

Also scoring for Boothbay were Mara Gentry, off assists from Brown and Meader, which gave the Seahawks a 1-0 lead in the first quarter, and Charlee Fuchswanz, who scored in the fourth quarter to give the home team a comfortable 4-1 lead with just over four minutes to play.

Abby Sewall, off an assist from Erica Johnson, scored Lincoln’s first goal to tie the game at 1-1. Brynna Nelson scored late in the fourth quarter for the Eagles.

On Friday, Oct. 23, Boothbay lost to Morse High School in Bath, 3-2. The Shipbuilders led 2-1 at the half and got an insurance goal with 8:41 to play in the final quarter.

Gentry scored both of Boothbay’s goals, one in the second quarter and one in the fourth quarter off an assist from Savannah Compare. Scoring for Morse were Isabel Skerlneck and Lilly Clifford, who had two goals.

Boothbay goalie Jaelyn Crocker had 21 saves against the Shipbuilders.

Boothbay is scheduled to play at Oak Hill on Wednesday, Oct. 28 and finish its season at home on Friday, Oct. 30 against Morse.
