Benefit dinner and auction May 14
A benefit dinner and auction for Brenda Lord will be held Saturday, May 14 at the Boothbay Fire Station. The dinner will begin at 5 p.m. A live auction will start at 6:30 p.m.
Family and friends have been collecting items for the auction, which will raise funds to help Brenda with her medical bills. Brenda is currently at Maine Medical Center in Portland battling complications but will be hopefully heading to rehab soon. Please send a prayer for her, come out on Saturday night for a fun time and show your support.
Brenda has been battling lung cancer for the past two and a half years and in February, her family said she was diagnosed with having contracted Guillain Barre, a syndrome when the person’s own immune system attacks and damages their own nerves. This left her paralyzed from her neck down. After undergoing surgeries and therapy, she spent nearly the next three weeks at a rehabilitation hospital learning how to wiggle fingers, exercise her arms and legs, sit unsupported, stand with assistance, and finally, walk herself again. Once she is home, she will be getting home health, physical and occupational therapy for awhile. Once she recovers from her Guillain Barre, it will be time to discuss options regarding treatment of her cancer.
Please contact or private message Lindsey at 207-350-5702 or Lisa at 207-315-0978 with any questions or if you would like to make a donation to the auction or make something for the potluck.
