Autumn inspires art at St. Andrews Village

“Every leaf speaks bliss to me, fluttering from the autumn tree.” Emily Brontë

As summer blooms begin to fade, autumn sweeps in with a new color palette all its own providing inspiration for the Boothbay Region Garden Club Garden Therapy program at St. Andrews Village. Marking the seasons is one important way to help residents of Gregory Wing and Safe Havens stay oriented in time. Each month the therapy team provides a new project which reflects the natural changes outdoors to bring a sense of the seasons to the residents.

This month, residents selected prepared “twig trees” to which they added daubs of color by dipping cotton balls and pom poms held with wooden clip clothespins into a selection of paints. Absolute genius! The resulting “leaves” of red, yellow, orange and green dressed the trees in patterns as unique as the artists themselves!
