Boothbay Region Art Foundation (BRAF) just got in a new shipment of 12” x 12” canvas squares a.k.a. a green light and reminder to all regional artists that it’s time to create small masterpieces!

Artists of all ages – professional and amateur – are invited to call on their imaginations to paint, draw, glue, print, cut, weave, or whatever on 144 square inches of empty, white space.

Finished squares must be submitted by Sunday, Nov. 13 and Monday, Nov. 14 between the hours of 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. OR on Tuesday, Nov.15 between 9 a.m. and noon.

This year, BRAF will again be opening the Art in the Square exhibition on Early Bird Saturday, Nov. 19, at 9 a.m. sharp. We expect to greet flocks of shoppers who already know “It’s hip to be square.” All squares are priced at $125.

Artists and budding artists needing more time can bring in their squares during winter hours: Thursday – Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The purpose of this endeavor is two-fold: to raise money for BRAF’s Scholarship Fund and sponsorship of the annual Pre-K thru grade 12 Student Show each spring. Of the ticket price, artist’s receive $75 and BRAF, $50. Art in the Square also provides art lovers the opportunity to own art by a favorite artist or a newly discovered one! Q

Art in the Square will be among the December holiday celebrations with an all-day open house and reception on Saturday, Dec. 3 from 4 to 6 p.m. BRAF also participates in Gardens Aglow/Festival of Lights which has become a highlighted end-of-the-year event for returning visitors who are making this an annual winter escape to our peninsula.
