Cheney Financial Group is hosting three summer events to support local artists, local musicians, local food, brews and wine.  The first event will be held Thursday, July 11, from 4:30-6 p.m. at Newcastle Realty, 87 Main Street, Damariscotta. Artist Lisa Kyle will exhibit her paintings, live music will be by The Oystermen, edibles include oysters from Pemaquid Oyster Co. and pork carnitas and Korean chicken quesadillas by VIP Pizza truck.  Local brew tastings will be provided by Boothbay Craft Brewery.

Lisa Kyle's work will be on display at Newcastle Realty for the month of July.  A lifelong artist, Kyle paints in the tradition of the Impressionists, attempting to capture the effects of light in the landscape. She has studied painting at Southern Methodist University, the Savannah College of Art and Design, Maryland Institute College of Art, as well as with noted artists. Her love of nature and a passion for painting led her to pursue a career as an oil painter and was the catalyst for her move to Maine in 2017.  Kyle is represented by The Landing Gallery in Rockland and Thomas Moser Gallery in Freeport.

Kyle shares: “I love to paint landscapes, especially those of beauty: the golden light of dusk, clouds building on the horizon or leaves backlit by the sun.  In response, I lift up the splendor of the natural world as a reaction against the ugliness so often found around us.  Often, this might be a scene that might be overlooked:  a pond, a field at dusk, or a simple tree.  I want to capture that moment of beauty and my place in that moment.  When I am successful, my work reflects an elusive moment of peace and serenity in an otherwise chaotic world.”

Cheney Financial Group is comprised of Cheney Insurance, Newcastle Realty and Newcastle Vacation Rentals. Our locally grown, locally owned companies have a strong commitment to supporting local businesses and bringing together community.  The next two Local Flavors Summer Series events will spotlight different artists and food vendors and will be held Thursday, Aug. 15 and Sept. 12.
