Arthur B. Ethier

Arthur B. “Barry” Ethier, 74, of Gardiner Road, Wiscasset died Sept. 29, 2017 at his residence.

He was born in Portland Aug. 24, 1943, a son of Arthur George Ethier and Elizabeth (Stimpson Goodrich). He attended Portland schools and entered the United States Army. On Jan. 16, 1979 he was employed at Bath Iron Works and was currently in the maintenance electrical department. On July 1, 1989 he married Deborah J. Reed and they resided in Wiscasset.

Arthur attended the Wiscasset Church of the Nazarene.

He loved working outside and spending time with family and his many friends from Bath Iron Works and the community.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah J. Ethier of Wiscasset; three daughters, Tammy Saxton and her boyfriend Mike Schooley of Dresden, Aimee Ethier-Bixby of Nobleboro and Alice Rendmeister and her husband Sheldon of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin; one son, Jody Reed and his wife Jodi-Rae of Wiscasset; three sisters, Carol Busler and her husband Joel of Woolwich, Deborah Brawn and her husband Chuck of Wiscasset and Bonnie McLeod and her husband Jeff of Sheepscot; 12 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a special love of his life, his Pomeranian, Foxy Lady.

He was predeceased by his father, Arthur George Ethier; his mother, Elizabeth Stimpson Goodrich; and his stepfather, Charles Goodrich.

A celebration of Arthur’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7 at the Church of the Nazarene, Gardiner Road in Wiscasset with military honors. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Wiscasset. A gathering of family and friends will follow at Wiscasset Middle High School.
