Dear Editor:

The Southport Island Quilters would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all who responded to the wonderful article written by the talented Jane Carpenter about our sewing group. We didn’t just receive donations of fabric and sewing items, we made new friends. Some people as far a Colorado. Yes, people from Colorado are reading the Boothbay Register! 

Sadly, we heard lots of stories from people at the end of their quilting careers. Many still love sewing, but because of health problems are unable to continue. People were happy to open their homes to us and show us amazing quilts they had created over the years. We were humbled by their talents. Thank you to all of the generous people in our community and beyond. We feel honored to make use of all of the items donated.  Also, a huge thank you to Jane and the Boothbay Register for shining a light on us. Thank you to everyone for helping us to be able to pay it forward. We will quilt on with our mission.
