AOS 98 superintendent search continues
The search for a new superintendent for AOS 98 continues. Community forums have been held in the four AOS 98 districts. At these forums input was gathered on important qualifications for the new superintendent as well as perceived strengths and weaknesses of the AOS 98 school system. Similar input has been sought through the use of online and written surveys of community members and school staff.
A Search Subcommittee has been established. The subcommittee includes community members from the four districts, a member of each district’s school committee, a staff representative from each school, an administrator from each school, and a representative from the CSD Board of Trustees and AOS 98 administration.
Steve Bailey, executive director of Maine School Management Association, has been retained as search consultant. Bailey will provide guidance in all steps of the search process and will coordinate access to MSMA’s search services.
Advertisements for the superintendent’s position are currently running in Maine education journals as well as in national journals. The goal is to draw from a coast to coast pool. The next step in the process will be initial screening of applicants. The search subcommittee is currently establishing the screening process and interview questions based on input from the forums and surveys. The search subcommittee hopes to make recommendations to the AOS 98 Board by the end of March.
