Annual Lobster Roll 5k shows good turnout

    The ninth annual Lobster Roll 5k brought over 200 runners from near and far on Saturday, July 28.

    Running for team “Seahawk XC,” rising Boothbay Region High School senior Blake Erhard won the race in the overall men’s category in 18:22. Howard Carter, former BRHS student running for team “BH Track Alumni,” finished second in 18:53.4.

    Blake Dodge of Beaufort, North Carolina reprised last year’s win in the overall female category with a time of 19:16.4 while sister Delaney Dodge placed second in 19:33.

    Holden Langenhagen won the boys' 14 and under category in 25:39.8; Will Perkins, boys' 15-19, 20:18.1; Grant Kern, men's20-29, 20:40.4; Juan Mendses, men's30-39, 22:02.7; Matt Carter, men's’ 40-49, 18:58.5; Kevin Powell, men's’ 50-59, 22:10.9; John Keller, men's’ 60-69, 22:38.6; and Alex Dobrowolski, men's’ 70-79, 32:03.3.

    Adeline Hall won the girls’ 14 and under category in 25:50.5; Allie Goodman, girls’ 15-19, 25:13.7; Stephanie Doyon, women's 20-29, 22:33.2; Ariel Fredrick, women's30-39, 23:08.2; Wendy Fisher, women's 40-49, 24:00.7; Felicia Bishop, women's 50-59,22:16.8; Mary Evanofski, women's 60-69, 30:06; Deborah O'Keefe, women's 70-79, 54:05.8;and Henny Volpe, women's 80 and over, 53:03.5.

    Shortly before race results were released, children participated in a “Fun Run” – a quarter mile run for the older kids and an obstacle course for the younger athletes. After the results at the awards ceremony, School Resource Officer Larry Brown was honored by Community on Track for his service and commitment to the safety of the students staff of BRHS and BRES. Brown received a Lobster Roll 5k tee-shirt, a gift certificate and a crystal plaque engraved, 2018, Larry Brown, Lobster Roll 5k Honoree, Your hard work and enthusiasm is an inspiration.”

    The Lobster Roll 5k is an ongoing fundraising event for a BRHS track. For the first time, the race has also been featured in Run Midcoast Maine’s series of races.
