Alna’s WW&F moves passenger shelter – via rail

While Sheepscot Valley’s Narrow Gauge usually brings the passengers to the station, this month WW&F brought a station to the passengers.

The Railway is renovating its Sheepscot Station at 97 Cross Road in Alna with new platforms, an enlarged passenger waiting area and improved passenger access. As part of the renovation process, Sheepscot’s extant passenger waiting shelter was made redundant. Instead of demolishing the shelter, Museum volunteers, along with contractor Chesterfield Associates, employed frugality and a little wisdom to remove the shelter, set it on a flatcar and move the entire building to the Railway’s Top of Mountain Station.

At Top of Mountain, the shelter is set to be installed so passengers awaiting their train after visiting SeaLyon Farms have a place to get out of the elements. You can visit SeaLyon Farms via the WW&F narrow gauge next month for Eastertime Eggspress Trains April 1-8. Learn more at wwfry.org. The moved passenger waiting shelter will open at a later date.
