Bikes for Books

Tuesday, March 19, 2013 - 02:02 pm

The region's two Masonic lodges, Bay View and Seaside, along with Crescent Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, held its Bikes for Books presentation at the Masonic Hall in East Boothbay on Saturday, March 16. This summer, the Masons and the Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library worked together to offer new bicycles to children completing the Library's summer reading program. The Bikes for Books program started statewide about five years ago and this is the first year that the local Masons got involved. Twenty-one new bicycles were handed out on Saturday for the children completing the Library's reading lists. There were smiles all around!
