William F. Spencer

William Fredrik “Bill” Spencer, 55, of Boothbay Harbor, died Sunday, June 16 in his home with his brother and sister at his side.

He was born in Fort Walton Beach, Fla., on May 15, 1958 and grew up in Biloxi, Miss. He is survived by his only son, Trent R.H. Spencer; his brother, R.J. Spencer; and sister, Marcy Spencer Longo.

He was predeceased by sisters, Mechelle Spencer Bibber Webb and Debbie Spencer.
Bill got his boat captain license when he was about 23, worked on oil rigs and finally moved to Maine permanently a few years later. He was a member of the Boothbay-Boothbay Harbor Community School District board, president of the tuna club, member of and finance committee member at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church.

His passion was boating and fishing, working on the water for several years and known as a great boat captain and fisherman. He wrote the Scuttlebutt fishing column for the Boothbay Register for several years.

He ran his drywall business for over 25 years. He loved to read, watch political shows, go mini golfing and Disney. He was very friendly and well versed in many topics.

He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer stage 4 late February and battled the disease for a short time.

There will be a Funeral Mass at Our Lady Queen of Peace on Saturday, June 22 at 11 a.m., followed by luncheon in the parish hall.
