Voting for Dale Harmon

Mon, 04/23/2018 - 5:00pm

Dear Editor:

I hope everyone has May 7 marked on their calendars. The polls are open and we need to get out and vote to reelect Dale Harmon. Dale grew up in this town and has chosen to raise his own family in this town as well. You won’t have to look very hard to find out how passionate he is about this community. When he’s not working for the Boothbay Region Water District, he’s at a Joint Economic Development Committee meeting, a selectman’s meeting, or attending one of his kids’ school functions. He volunteers as much as time allows, and he’ll usually gladly let you stop him wherever he is in town to chat, whether it be for 5, 10, or 60 minutes.

While I wasn’t born on this peninsula, I am very much in love with it, and hope to stay here as long as possible. However, as a young adult attempting to successfully work two jobs and attend college full-time, I’m still unable to find affordable housing. Like most adults my age, the necessary but sad decision will most likely be leaving the peninsula to find housing elsewhere.

Fighting change and growth in this town is not the way to attract and retain the next generation of people we need. I know Dale Harmon will work as hard and as long as possible to save our small town and eventually see it thrive again. Vote for Dale on May 7.
