Vote for LePage

Dear Editor:

"He's been denounced and dismissed, ridiculed and royally roasted, but there is no doubt that Gov. Paul LePage says what he thinks and generally does what he says," said Ruth Leubecker in her "The View Downeast" column in the Machias Valley News Observer back on Dec. 11, 2013.

Leubecker goes on to chronicle LePage's accomplishments from addressing the problem of domestic violence, easing the state's regulations for doing business, passing the largest tax cut in Maine's history ($400 million), reducing electricity costs by $74 million, providing $3 million in disaster relief to dairy farmers, and settling a $490 million debt with 39 Maine hospitals.

Yes, our Gov. LePage can be rude, but he has earned high marks for transparency. Maine.gov has been recognized as one of the 10 most improved transparent websites by a public-interest reporting group.

Payroll jobs ticked up again in August this year. Since 2010, 22,100 private-sector jobs have been created. Government employment accounted for 16.2 percent of non-farm jobs in July and August, the lowest share since before 1983.

Leubecker closed her article with, "Everything is a trade-off. We have had many mannerly governors who have made many un-kept promises. Don't throw too many stones at a man who gets the job done."

Gov. LePage has my vote this November. I want to keep moving Maine forward.
