Urgent care or beds?
Dear Editor:
Don't let LincolnHealth bully us into trading rehab beds for night-time walk in care. We need (and had) both! DHHS wants the people in our community to be safe and to have access to care.
A night time walk-in care facility could be run for 50 percent of what LincolnHealth is staffing for. We don't need ER-Certified physicians to treat a middle of the night belly ache.
But, since Lincoln Medical Partners' Primary Care docs will only treat their patients, and many visitors and seasonal residents don't have a local primary care physician, we need a solution for the middle of the night scary incidents. If we can't have a stand-alone ER, we at least need night time walk in/drive in urgent care or primary care.
Don't let LH tell us it's either/or. Either night time care or beds. This is our community. We are the patients! It's our money that's being spent to provide care. We should have a say in how it's spent.
