The Boothbay Region High School field hockey team, ranked fifth, won its quarterfinal tournament game, 5-4, against fourth-ranked Central in Corinth on Wednesday, Oct. 19. The Seahawks (9-5-1) got three goals from junior Sydney Meader and additional goals from Riley Sullivan and Chloe Arsenault to advance to the semifinal round of the Class C North tournament.

Boothbay will now face the top-ranked Maine Central Institute Huskies, who defeated Orono, 10-0, on Wednesday.

BRHS Athletic Director Allan Crocker announced today that the Seahawks and Huskies will square off at Thomas College in Waterville on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. The game was originally scheduled to take place Friday at MCI but due to the weather forecast of rain, MCI didn’t think its field would be playable on Saturday.

In an email from BRHS coach Donna Jordan regarding Wednesday’s game against Central, she wrote “This was definitely an exciting game for the spectators with nine goals being scored during 60 minutes of regulation play.  I thought the girls responded well to playing on a field that was much faster than ours.  The team played with great intensity for a full 60 minutes, they had the confidence that they could win the game when Central tied us with 4:30 remaining. We scored the winning goal 1 minute 15 seconds following their 4th and final goal.”
