Dear Editor:

After reading the letters to the editor from Fred Rotondaro and Fred Nehring, I would ask only two, of many, (rhetorical) questions:

1. If you heard intruders in your home nearing your bedroom at 3 a.m., would you rather have a phone or a firearm?

2. Can you tell me how many of the school and other mass-killers over the past years were NRA members? (I don't know either, but I can guess and be fairly accurate.)

The mind's eye picture of the French police responding to the site of the massacre in Paris with only billy clubs as weapons should also be quite revealing to those who would like to take total control over us and our rights.

Why are common sense, reason and critical thinking being given over to ideology?
