Travel basketball team fundraiser at Brady’s Feb. 25

Event has passed

All are invited to a donation-only fundraising supper for a boys fifth and sixth grade travel basketball team at Brady’s restaurant on Sunday, Feb. 25 from 4 to 6 p.m.

Lisa Hallinan’s fish chowder, donated comfort food such as macaroni and cheese and American chop suey, salads, desserts such as cupcakes and more will be served by the parents and players. The bar will be open to sell drinks. Money raised will be used for the team’s expenses during their upcoming game schedule.

The 12-member team is being sponsored by Back Meadow Farm in Boothbay and coached by Mark Barter and Rob McHugh. The team has games lined up for March and the players have already participated in the Boothbay Region Youth Basketball program held this winter against teams from Gardiner, Wiscasset, Augusta and Central Lincoln County YMCA.

“We, and other local travel teams raising money, are also hoping to raise enough money to perhaps help purchase new scoreboards for the elementary school,” said Sarah Jo Barter, Mark’s wife. She said the Back Meadow Farm team also has a bank account set up at The First for those who might want to donate to the team.

“We wish to thank Brady’s for hosting this fundraiser,” said Barter.
