Sydney Meader named to All-New England field hockey first team

Another honor is coming Boothbay Region High School field hockey player Sydney Meader’s way. The school’s all-time leading scorer was named on Jan. 22 to the MaxPreps All-New England High School Field Hockey first team. Meader is one of 26 players named to the team. MaxPreps is an American website that specializes in coverage of American high school sports.

Meader is one of four Maine players named to the first team. She joins Skowhegan’s Haley Carter and Maliea Kelso along with Miss Maine Field Hockey Haley Lowell of Messalonskee High School. Meader finished as a Miss Maine Field Hockey finalist.

Meader finished with 86 career goals. She was also named to Maine Field Hockey Association’s Maine Sunday Telegram All-State First Team and an All-Mountain Valley Conference First Team.

Meader will continue her field hockey playing for the University of Maine this fall.

The MaxPreps All-New England team had four players from New Hampshire, two from Vermont and 16 from Massachusetts. The squad had two freshmen, two sophomores, six juniors and 16 seniors.
