Plein air painter Corinne McIntyre is readying for her new show, “Summer in Full Swing,” opening on August 1 at her Ocean Point Studio/Visions of Maine gallery. New land and seascapes will give gallery visitor's McIntyre's interpretation of the world that surrounds her.

McIntyre, like many a devoted plein air artist, has been spending the summer painting as often as possible. Summer, it would seem, is indeed in full swing for the artist between creating and hosting visitors at her East Boothbay gallery.

One of McIntyre's latest was painted during the morning hours of July 13 and is called, “Summer in the Harbor.”

“I painted this oil painting from the Fisherman's Memorial in Boothbay Harbor. The light on this summer morning was a startling white, so I had to introduce more contrast to portray it,” McIntyre shared. “I loved painting it. Thank goodness I had my umbrella attached to my easel!

“I also had quite an audience which made it a bit of a challenge and more fun. I really like meeting people from all over the world. They are so happy to be on vacation and to be on this very special peninsula. These are some of the gifts of plein air painting.”

McIntyre will hold an open house/reception on Friday, August 1 from 4 to 7 p.m.

Fred McIntyre's beautiful hand-carved pottery will also be featured. Each work is unique and shows his special creativity. His work captures the colors, ruggedness and natural beauty of Maine.

Ocean Point Studio also has both limited and open edition prints available.
