    Celebrating Independence Day on Southport Island has become a tradition and the 2025 parade, organized by the Southport Island Association, was as colorful and happy as ever. About a dozen floats, fire trucks, vintage cars, decorated bicycles and wagons, people dressed in red, white and blue clothing and holding American flags, and more stretched from the Newagen town landing to Newagen Seaside Inn and back.
