It is hard to believe that the 2015 season is drawing to a close. The Junior Banquet is on Friday, and the sailors, parents and grandparents will gather at the Southport Town Hall to celebrate the successes of the summer.

Parents should check the junior building for miscellaneous items your children may have left or lost over the summer. The senior club will hold the annual meeting on Saturday morning at 10 a.m.; and at 6 p.m., the Commodores will host the closing reception to present the awards for the racing season.

Last week SYCV hosted the Opti regatta. About 75 boats and crews participated. The results are covered in the Southport Junior Yacht column.

Last weekend we had a very successful chowder cook off. There were nine entries, which were judged by a panel of expert chowder critics. Top honors went to Chace Brinegar and Holly O'Shea.
