Wide receiver Hunter Arsenault scored on a 55-yard touchdown pass to propel Boothbay Region High School football to a 22-14 pre-season victory over Old Orchard Beach at Sherman Field on Aug. 25.

The game featured the two varsity squads in the first half. And in the second, the junior varsity teams took the field. Boothbay Region scored the first touchdown late in the first quarter. Running back Jacob Peaslee scored on a six-yard sweep. The Seahawks made the two-point conversion for a 8-0 lead.

After a second quarter Old Orchard Beach score cut the lead to 8-7; running back Carter Babcock ran four yards on an inside trap play. The first half ended 14-8 after OOB missed a 30-yard field goal in the final seconds.

Boothbay Region coach Bryan Dionne was impressed with his team’s performance against a tough, aggressive Old Orchard Beach defense.

“This was a great test for us. Old Orchard Beach has caused us a lot of problems in the past, but tonight our whole team played well and handled their pressure,” Dionne said.

Boothbay Region begins the regular season at 7 p.m. on Sept. 4 versus Traip Academy of Kittery at Sherman Field.
