The Reverend Wesley A. Smith at Wilson Chapel

The Reverend Wesley A. Smith will lead the service at the Wilson Memorial Chapel on Ocean Point this Sunday, July 3. The service is at 9:30 a.m. All are welcome.

Reverend Smith is a native of Burnt Hills, New York. He received his B.A. in biblical studies and social science from Barrington College, Barrington, Rhode Island, in 1973, where he was inducted into Who's Who In American Colleges and Universities. He earned his master of divinity degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, South Hamilton, Massachusetts, in 1976.

Rev. Smith completed many credit hours toward a doctor of ministry degree in Not-For-Profit Administration at Trinity Seminary in Newburg, Indiana. Since his ordination on June 20, 1976, at Burnt Hills Baptist Church, Rev. Smith has served churches in Averill Park and Saratoga Springs, New York; in Colorado Springs, Colorado; and in Westerly and Cranston, Rhode Island. He currently serves as pastor of the First Baptist Church in Hamilton, New York.

Smith is president of Hamilton Rotary and president of the Hamilton Area Clergy Association. He is on the Community Memorial Hospital Institutional Review Board and the Medical Ethics Committee of the hospital. Smith is also the church representative on the Board of BRIDGES, a community coalition on drug and substance abuse education and prevention.

Smith is married to Joyce Halliday Smith, a fine artist. They have two daughters and five grandchildren who reside in Colorado. Rev. and Mrs. Smith enjoy walking their two retrievers along the trails of Colgate University.
