A picture similar to the one in the Register (Dec. 25) can be found in the "Islands Of Mid-Maine Coast" written by Charles B. McLane, page 99. Caption of picture states "North American Fleet off Squirrel Island1913; the ships' officers were ashore on the island playing tennis."

My dad, Leland Snowman, attended the school at Cape Newagen and said that his teacher took her students to the east shore of Newagen where they watched the Navy maneuvers. My dad was told of large amounts of floating fish caused by depth charges.
