No biking routes in region

Dear Editor:

Over the past several years, the Boothbay region has been promoting biking in the region.

I don't think this is responsible or fair, considering there are no significant bike paths nor designated lanes in the region, especially to the most popular areas such as The Botanical Gardens via Barters Island Road or Ocean Point via Route 96.

One can see the understanding look of terror and confusion on the face of the unsuspecting weekend tourist attempting to navigate these presently precarious routes. This is becoming all the more common due to the media promotions and the availability of bike rentals.

It seems that this situation may very well lead to a serious accident, which is not in the best interest of the region and certainly not the unsuspecting cyclist.
