It's not Fishermen's Festival until the young ladies sing.

    Or dance.

    Or jump rope.

Or showcase any of their talents, charms and charisma during the annual Miss Shrimp Princess pageant, which has long been the starting point for Fishermen's Festival.

And the winner of the 2014 Miss Shrimp Pageant is Ciara Pitcher.

Ciara drew raucous applause for her thundering rendition of Heart's “Magic Man” and wowed the judges during her question and answer session.

“When I grow up I want to be an archaeologist because I love learning about ancient civilizations,” she said.

Ciara seemed to be in disbelief after 2013 Miss Shrimp Lillian Sherburne handed her a sash and crown.

But, it wasn't just Ciara who was handed over some hardware; first runner-up went to Sadie Yentsch, who performed a country song with a square dance to match, and second runner-up was Kali Andrews, who performed a song from Les Miserables.

Other highlights included Della Hahn's country song and dance, Hali Goodwin's rendition of “Royals,” Marissa Peters' jump rope and hula hoop routine, Maddy Faulkingham singing and playing both the ukulele and maraca, and Ava Schlosser wearing a poodle skirt and dancing to Elvis' “You ain't nothing but a hound dog.”
