Mutt Scub a success

Wed, 07/29/2015 - 11:00am

Dear Editor:

Two Salty Dogs Pet Outfitters would like to thank everyone who helped make the third annual Boothbay Harbor Mutt Scrub a huge success and a fun afternoon.

Thanks to the generosity of so many community members, visitors, and local merchants, over $3,000 was raised for the Lincoln County Animal Shelter.

Thank you to the crew from Robinson’s Wharf, the Rumneys of CarQuest Auto Parts, and the SYC junior sailors and friends that spent a slightly chilly afternoon washing 58 dogs. Thanks to Sara and Nancy from Paws a While for clipping the nails of 24 nervous dogs, and to Judy and Michael for making sure everyone was greeted and checked in. And thanks to Miranda and Caroline for the super photographs.

We were fortunate enough to be joined by Crust again this year and enjoyed fabulous wood-fired pizza. And local businesses really came through in support of the shelter and donated fantastic raffle prizes. Thanks to the generous supporters at The Coastal Dog, Boathouse Bistro, The Lobster Dock, Robinson’s Wharf, Ports of Italy, Slick's Boutique, UnTangled Hair Salon, Mr. Dog Training, A Silver Lining, Boothbay Railway Village, Grover’s Hardware, Shannon’s Unshelled, Janson’s Clothing, Watershed Tavern, Boothbay Harbor County Club, Casual Interiors, China by the Sea, The Hutch, Gold/Smith Gallery, Popcorn Factory, and The Pantry as well as to Susan and Ellen who were at the ready all afternoon to help with raffle entries.

Thanks to Jeff Morris (aka MC Meow-Meow) for moving things along with laughs and great music. And much appreciation goes to Jen, Gudrun, Martha and Ellen who used their impartial sharp-eyed talents to judge a canine talent show and doggie musical chairs.

A special thank-you to Mutt Nose Best from Bangor for donating their natural organic shampoos. And to Blue Buffalo Pet Food for one huge raffle prize, all the free samples, and lots of fun giveaways.

Lastly, thanks to Lincoln County Animal Shelter staff, board members, and volunteers (especially Lucy, Kaleigh, Julie and Jason) for their time and sharing information on the shelter.

We’ll be back next year, so mark your calendar for July 30, 2016.
