‘Life Chain’ Sunday

Fri, 09/26/2014 - 11:00am

Dear Editor:

“I wanted to meet my biological mother mostly to see if she was okay and to thank her, because I'm glad I didn't end up as an abortion,” Steve Jobs, adopted as a newborn, is quoted as saying in “Steve Jobs” by Walter Isaacson. “She was 23 and she went through a lot to have me.”

Isaacson wrote in the introduction to his biography, “Jobs stands as the ultimate icon of inventiveness, imagination, and sustained innovation. He knew that the best way to create value in the 21st century was to connect creativity with technology, so he built a company (Apple) where leaps of the imagination were combined with remarkable feats of engineering.” Jobs revolutionized six industries: personal computers, animated movies, music, phones, tablet computing and digital publishing.

Oct. 5 is National Life Chain Sunday. Tens of thousands of pro-life people will gather beside main streets to pray silently and hold signs to remind those passing that abortion hurts women and that adoption is a loving option. They will stand in honor of the 56 million lives who have been lost to abortion in our country since 1973. You have to wonder what inventions and innovations some of those lost lives would have contributed to our society.

A Life Chain will be held in Wiscasset on the Oct. 5 from 2 to 3 p.m. in front of the Wiscasset Town Office. Signs are provided. For more information, contact Mary Rose Pray at 207-882-9640.
