Dear Editor:

This Sunday, Nov. 20, will be the last American Legion breakfast until April 2017. I would like to thank everyone in the community that joined us for breakfast during 2016! The money we raise with these breakfasts allows us to support the many American Legion Post activities, including Boys State and Girls State, and providing emergency funding for our veterans and their families making the often difficult transition from combat to living in a peaceful community.

We had a terrific turnout this year and our partnership with the Boothbay Region Community Resources Council (who also prepared and served our new addition to the breakfast menu — WAFFLES — thank you Sue Burge!) was a huge success. I would also like to thank our faithful Legionnaires who prepare every breakfast to ensure we provide the quality of breakfast everyone enjoys. Please join us this Sunday for one last breakfast in 2016 before the snow flies!
