Hearty Roots offers year-round, outdoor programming. Maine offers its share of foul weather. Last week, Great Salt Bay teens took shelter from the pouring rain to learn flute making with Josh Leatham, Hearty Roots’ Outing Club Adventure Mentor, and Tali Gosselin, an Adventure Intern earning field hours as she studies psychology at Johnson and Wales.

GSB School’s yurt provided the perfect indoor/outdoor learning space for the after-school adventure activities. Fall Outing Clubs at Hearty Roots are held at schools throughout Lincoln County, and occur directly after the dismissal bell when kids are invited outside, beyond the natural surroundings of their schoolyard and into nature. Outing Clubs focus on fire building, spoon carving, belonging, flute making, shelter building, yoga, hiking, mindfulness, reflection, and connection to nature. 

Looking to get your kiddo off the grid and into their heart? Hearty Roots is offering a Pop-Up Camp on Nov. 9 for kids age 8-11, as well as a Teen Retreat Weekend from Nov. 10-12.
