Grateful for party

Tue, 11/15/2016 - 11:30am

Dear Editor:

I would like to thank my Register of Probate, Catherine Moore, her staff and all those who helped with my “surprise," “retirement” party last Wednesday. I did get suspicious when I saw the finger rolls on the filing cabinets.

I would also like to thank the voters of Lincoln County who elected me for seven terms, 28 years, as Lincoln County Judge of Probate and the Lincoln County Commissioners for their interest in and support for the important work that our office does.

I congratulate my successor, judge-elect, Will Avantaggio, who will be an excellent judge. The most important qualities that make a good judge cannot be taught and I can tell you that Will comes by these naturally.

I do have to correct one misapprehension: my “retirement.” I am retiring as Lincoln County Judge of Probate but I will continue to practice law. Liisa and Valery will continue in the office to make sure things are done right.
