With God's help

Dear Editor:

I always thought it wrong, this nation under God, to hold separate democratic decisions and laws from religious influence.

Though they are held "in pectora," I have many religious thoughts. They are with me daily. Until the June 30, 2014 decision in Burwell vs. Hobby Lobby, I felt excluded that these thoughts were given no consideration where the enacting and enforcing of laws was concerned. It relieves me greatly to now observe that the sanctity of deeply held religious principles are now law, amicably and irresolutely entwined, enabling God-fearing citizens to hold high their heads.

In our country, 90 percent of all businesses are "closely held" corporations. I am the lone, proud employee of my own. It is gratifying to legally know I may no longer be required to fight wars designed to kill my fellow man. I find war repugnant and evil, the last resort of ignorant men to use me and, if needed, to spend my life in satisfaction of a petty quarrel.

This decision by our courts is not about preventing conception, although, thanks be to God, we are on Earth to make babies. No, this introduces divinity into the equation. This Supreme Court of ours, truly, was sent by the Lord.

Amen.
