Give CMBG a chance

Dear Editor:

As a long-time member and supporter of Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens (and donor of The Garden of the Five Senses), it pains me to read about people canceling their memberships in CMBG based on false information and misrepresentations about their expansion plans being made in the press.

I am a homeowner in the Boothbay area and, out of personal self-interest, have carefully studied the effect the Garden’s proposed waste-water treatment will have on the environment, including Knickerbocker Lake. I urge everyone to read the presentation of the facts on their website: http://www.mainegardens.org/salientfacts/. I am confident a careful reading of the Garden’s presentation will convince you that their proposed system offers a far superior solution to running a new sewer line, one that is both safer for the environment and involves no cost to taxpayers or local property owners who would be forced to connect to the sewer line at great personal expense.

I sincerely hope everyone will take a deep breath and give CMBG a chance to prove once again they continue to be faithful stewards of the land, as they have always been.
