In the spirit of the holidays, Pinkham's Seafood will be spreading cheer — in the form of seafood chowder.

On Tuesday, Dec. 22, Pinkham's will be giving away cups of fish and/or seafood chowder all day, beginning around 11 a.m.

Owner Russell Pinkham said the type of chowder will be the chef's (his wife, Cathy's) decision. “It's up to the boss – that's her department.”

Pinkham's Seafood moved to its present location on Route 27 in Boothbay a year ago on Dec. 20.

Pinkham said it has been a good year for the business, and he wants to give something back to the community.

The seafood market has added a new freezer, with items like shrimp, oysters, clams and seafood chowders. Due to the decline of Maine shrimp over the past three years, the shrimp at Pinkham's is from Canada. Pinkham said it is similar to Maine shrimp – just as sweet, but a little smaller.

This season there will a 48,000-pound limited catch on Maine shrimp, according to Maggie Smith of the Maine Department of Marine Resources.

The market is full of fresh seafood and replenishing daily for the holiday season. Stop in for lobsters, haddock, clams, scallops, salmon, swordfish, monkfish, cod, oysters, tuna, halibut and crabmeat. There are also stuffed clams and fresh house made crab cakes and stuffed sole.

Call 207-633-6236 to get your order in for Christmas. And stop by on Dec. 22 for a fresh hot cup of chowder!
