Energy-friendly candidates

Dear Editor:

As we get closer to Election Day, we need to pay close attention to the candidates that are energy-friendly. I believe that we can move our country towards energy independence and stop spending our money on foreign oil. Although the amount of petroleum we purchase from overseas is much lower than it has been in the past, we can do much better than that.

With that in mind, the Keystone Pipeline should move forward, and I hope that happens next year with the new administration. That would be a giant leap towards improving our national economy.

I was very hopeful that our current administration would approve the pipeline, but that was not to be.

I would be amiss if I did not mention the ethanol issue. I am worried that the ethanol in our gasoline will ruin my car if the ethanol percentage goes above 10 percent. I have also heard that this ethanol is not a friend of small engines. There is probably not one single American who does not own a weed eater or lawnmower. We should stop using corn, which is a food product, to make ethanol. That alone would help our economy because people will save a lot of money on their grocery bill!
