Join the library and our co-sponsors for a fun and fact-filled community event celebrating our one and only planet earth. The library’s second annual Earth Day Fest will be held Saturday, April 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the library lawn (rain or shine).

Hang out for the day; or stop by for a visit. Hands-on activities and learning for all ages; plus the Chewonki natural history program "Animal Adaptations," and snacks, games, community, and local natural wonders!

    11 a.m.: Animal Adaptations

Webbed feet, camouflaged fur, or spines on their back are all amazing ways that animals use adaptations to survive in the wild everyday. In this fun-filled hour, participants will learn about adaptations, try on fun costumes, and see firsthand how live animals adapt to thrive in specific habitats.

    10 a.m.-2 p.m.

    Boothbay Region Water District

Adams Pond and Knickerbocker Lake are the public water supplies for the Boothbay Region. What happens in their watersheds – the area of land that drains to the lakes – affects the quality of our drinking water. The Water District will have a watershed model to explore and show the effects of stormwater pollution and runoff on water quality, as well as information on ways to protect all water bodies.

    Boothbay Sea and Science Center

Whose Trash Is This?: The Boothbay Region concerns itself with the integrity of its natural resources and depends upon future generations to understand and appreciate the impact that they have on its viability and sustainability.  One of the goals at the Boothbay Sea and Science Center (BSSC) is to encourage the responsible use and long-term stewardship of the ocean and its resources by cultivating a greater understanding and appreciation of the coastal environment and maritime history. BSSC invites one and all to join them in “up-cycling” cups, lids, bowls, etc. into unique and fun works of art!
