Corinne McIntyre: Artist of the Month for February

Fri, 01/30/2015 - 8:15am

Story Location:
4 Oak Street
Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538
United States

Corinne McIntyre, a professional plein air and studio painter based in East Boothbay, finds her happiness painting by the sea.

McIntyre originally studied and painted in the classical manner; then for many years painted abstracts and semi-abstracts of her trips to Greece, Italy, Spain and France.

A graduate of the Art Institute of Boston, McIntyre worked as a technical illustrator at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a freelance illustrator and a graphic designer for a Fortune 500 company, and owned and managed a successful design business.

Since her move to Maine, McIntyre has focused full-time on her painting, plein air painting in particular. Her favorite subject: the coastal landscape that surrounds and inspires her. Conveying what she experiences while painting plein air — the natural beauty and the emotions — is what she hopes to evoke.

McIntyre is an associate member of the Oil Painters of America; The American Impressionist Society; American Society of Marine Artists; River Arts, Damariscotta Maine; the Boothbay Region Art Foundation; and a founding member of the Plein Air Painters of Maine.

As the Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library's February Artist of the Month, a selection of Corinne Mcintyre's oil paintings will be on display Feb. 3-27.
