Thu, 09/11/2014 - 11:30am

Central Lincoln County Adult Education and Healthy Lincoln County are pleased to offer a free grocery store discovery tour led by a trained nutritionist for adults on a tight budget. Three independent tours have been scheduled for Monday, Oct. 6, Nov. 3 and Dec. 1 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Hannaford in Damariscotta.

Participants learn how and why to buy fruits and veggies at their peak; compare unit prices for the best buy; find salt, sugar and fat levels on labels and learn some healthy options; discover energizing whole grains; find affordable meats and proteins; and gather some chef-inspired cost saving tips along the way.

Participants receive a free $10 Hannaford store card and a Cooking Matters shopping bag and book with great tips and simple recipes to fuel a healthy family. You are eligible for this class if you have not already taken it, and you participate in SNAP (food stamps/EBT), WIC, food pantry, Head Start, LIHEAP, free/reduced school lunch or general assistance.

You may register for one of the tours online at clc.maineadulted.org or call the or contact Central Lincoln County Adult Education at 207-563-2811 for more information.
