When I checked the messages on my answering machine that day, there was a man signing up for the Community Christmas Dinner. He left his name and number and then added, “It’s just me coming.” I felt sad for him, but grateful because he planned to share a special holiday with so many other “just me’s” who would not be alone on Christmas Day. 

The planning committee for the dinner would like to say thanks to so many who made this possible: the Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library, Pinkham’s Gourmet Seafood, Shaw’s in Wiscasset, Boothbay House of Pizza, Ralph Smith at the Bistro, the Boothbay Register, Harbor Theater, and BRCTV. Special thanks to Maria Michael, Bob Moore, so many other volunteers, and especially to our kitchen crew led by Richardsky Adoux and Stan Lewis. You all played a role in bringing joy to so many couples, families, friends, and “just me’s”. We all look forward to next year!
