“Chef” returns for two evening shows. Chef Carl Casper (Jon Favreau) suddenly quits his job at a prominent Los Angeles restaurant after refusing to compromise his creative integrity for its controlling owner (Dustin Hoffman), he is left to figure out what's next.

Finding himself in Miami, he teams up with his ex-wife, his friend and his son to launch a food truck. Taking to the road, Chef Carl goes back to his roots to reignite his passion for the kitchen and zest for life and love.

“Chef” is written and directed by Favreau. Also stars with Sofía Vergara and John Leguizamo.

“Chef” is rated R (for language). It plays at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 3 and Thursday, Sept. 4.

“Boyhood”

“Boyhood” is Richard Linklater's groundbreaking movie about growing up. Filmed over 12 years with the same cast, this is the story of growing up as seen through the eyes of a child named Mason (Ellar Coltrane in a breakthrough performance), who literally grows up on screen before our eyes.

Ethan Hawke and Patricia Arquette star as Mason's parents, and newcomer Lorelei Linklater as his sister Samantha.

“Boyhood” charts the rocky terrain of childhood like no other film has before. Writing for The Washington Post, reviewer Ann Hornsby summed wrote: “... as a film that dares to honor small moments and the life they add up to, “Boyhood” isn't just a masterpiece. It's a miracle.”

“Boyhood” has won several awards including “Best Film,” “Best Director” (Richard Linkleter) and “Best Actress” (Patricia Arquette) at the Seattle International Film Festival, in addition to receiving a full score of 100 on Metacritic (out of 100) based on 49 reviews, signifying “universal acclaim.”

This film is rated R for language, including sexual references, and for teen drug and alcohol use. It plays Friday, Sept. 5 and Saturday, Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 7 at 3 and 7 p.m.

The theatre will be closed Monday, Sept. 8 and Tuesday, Sept. 9. It reopens on Wednesday, Sept. 10.
