Celebrating “God & Country” at Baptist Church July 5

Wed, 07/01/2015 - 3:30pm

In observance of Independence Day, God & Country will be celebrated this Sunday, July 5, at Boothbay Baptist Church during the 10:15 a.m. worship service, followed by a family picnic.

The service will feature guest speaker Rick Carver of Reason and Rhyme Ministries. Mr. Carver is a pastor, Bible teacher, and musician who until recently served as a Christian apologist with AIIA Institute in Monson, Maine.

With Isaiah 1:16-18 as his text, he will speak on What’s So Great about America?” An accomplished guitarist and former lead vocalist for the band Common Ground, he brings music for the soul as well as a message for the mind.

The worship service will also include patriotic music by the Praise Team and the appreciative recognition of veterans in attendance.

Following the service will be the annual church family picnic outside in the lower level parking lot with grilled hot dogs and hamburgers and side dishes contributed by parishioners. The field behind the church will be available for children’s activities. Dress casually, and remember to bring lawn chairs, sunscreen, and any other picnic essentials. All are invited.

There will be no Sunday School classes on July 5.
